Gloria Blackmon, RN, BSN and Patsy Howard, RN have teamed
up to bring their dream of Nutrira to life. They are both
successful nurses who understand the unique stresses faced by
nursing professionals. Their mission is to share valuable tools
for “nourishing” your mind and spirit to make the changes you
need to fulfill your dreams – in your career and in your life. |
Nutrira is the brainchild of Gloria Blackmon, born out of her
passion to provide nurses with every opportunity to have a
fulfilling career and life. Her diverse career includes
extensive clinical work as well as the development of a highly
successful independent medical-legal firm in 1996. As a
practicing nurse and consultant, her specialties include acute
medicine, physical rehabilitation, home health and
gerontological nursing.
Her Kansas based independent medical-legal firm quickly became a
national consulting corporation. Appointed to independent
monitor by a State Attorney General’s office, she also provides
services to the insurance industry as a loss control analyst and
onsite investigator.
A renowned speaker, Gloria has given numerous presentations to
national audiences regarding long term care issues. She has
contributed articles to Claims Magazine, LNC Resource, The
Medical-Legal Institute Journals as well E-Zine and textbook
chapters in A Facility Based Risk Management Program. Recently
she coauthored a chapter on Nursing Home Liability that was
published in Patricia Iyer (Editor), Nursing Malpractice, Third
Edition, 2007 available through
www.medleague.com.
A resident of New Orleans, Gloria recently dealt with
significant personal and career stresses. Read about her

Gloria is currently a member of The American Nurses Association
(ANA) and the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
and the National Nurses In Business Association (NNBA). She
graduated from The Maryville University -St. Louis and The

Patsy Howard, R.N has twenty six years of clinical
nursing experience in obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics,
medical-surgical, and home health as well as other
areas.
She earned her certification in Medical-Legal Consulting in
1994 and served as the in-house nurse consultant for a
nationally known law firm. Combining her vast medical
experience and her experience working in-house in the law
firm, she established her own consulting firm in 2003, which
has grown to be a very successful business consulting to
both plaintiff and defense firms.
Today her company utilizes independent consultants and is
retained by several high-profile companies. She has also
added another area of concentration handling large chemical
cases with a client base in three states.
Patsy continues to share her experiences and knowledge
mentoring nurses and lecturing to national audiences. In
addition, she has contributed numerous articles to E-Zines.
A graduate of The Meramec Community
College School of Nursing, Patsy is also a member of The
National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants (NACLNC).
